Afkule and Turkish Bath
It is the most beautiful diving point of the region, which you can reach within three miles when you leave Fethiye harbour. This is a magnificent cavity resembling a half cylinder, 15 metres wide and reaching a depth of 40-60 metres. It is only suitable for experienced divers. You start diving from the wide mouth of the cave which is above water in front of the steep walls. When you shine your flashlight on the wall descending down ninety degrees, you cannot get enough of the yellow coloured hard corals inside the pink coloured soft corals. When you turn your back to the wall and look at the deep blue, you will fly away. When you descend to 25-30 metres, red coloured cave shrimps start to run away when you enter the narrow slit in the left corner. Now your bottom time is over, when you take the cave to your left and move a little further, you will see the second cave. Go about 10m inside the cave, turn back again and after swimming 80-90m to the left along the wall, enter the last open cave with an entrance starting at 10-12m. This is the end of the dive. This cave is also like a cylinder, after a few laps inside, come to the surface. This is the ‘Turkish Bath’. Coming out of the blue and looking at the deep blue sky is an unforgettable moment. After that, you can return to your boat either through the passage on the surface or underwater. In the past years, the inside of Afkule Cave was covered with formations that we call tulle coral, which is actually a type of algae but because of its resemblance to coral. However, due to careless and inexperienced divers, there are almost none left nowadays.
When you do not enter the Turkish bath and go a little further east, there is a very beautiful cave with a depth of 28m and a length of 6-8m. However, you can also dive here with a different planning.
Level:Experienced divers only.
