SARIYARLAR:

When you leave Fethiye harbour and pass the aquarium bay, it is an extremely suitable bay for diving with a small beach 3 miles away. While experienced divers start diving from the beginning of the bay, the front of the beach is an excellent place for all kinds of diving training. Between 1990-2010, dozens of seahorses found life among the grass in front of this beach. Well-known underwater photographers Ozan ÇOKDEĞER, Alptekin BALOĞLU and Ali Ethem KESKİN took their first seahorse photographs here under my guidance. We used to see black pygmy, yellow maned and green sea horses on every dive. Even the name of SEAHORSE diving centre comes from here. However, when everyone heard about it and started to anchor in the bay and then the turtles turned the bottom into a desert, they all disappeared.

This dive site consists of caves and tunnels starting from the surface and reaching a depth of 30 metres. Start diving from the headland at the entrance of the bay. After the platform with a depth of 5-7m, take the wall to your left and descend to 25-30m. Follow the large stone blocks on your right and pass through the tunnel at 30m. and then slowly ascend. Enter and exit the one-way cave at a depth of 19-21m. Now the deep part of the dive is over. Continue through the rocky area and pass under the big stone with an entrance of 12m. The exit is quite narrow, be careful. Turn left after the exit and pass through the short tunnel. The small fishes around are wonderful, especially the silver fry, as if an orchestra conductor is directing them, going left and right. Now go down again to 10 metres and pass through the tunnel formed by two big rocks. It’s not over yet, ascend a bit and exit the last tunnel by entering through a 5m. hole whose entrance can hardly be seen. This tunnel is full of shadow fish. When the tunnels are finished, go through the grassy 8-10m deep plain, follow the first rocks you come across and when you come to the sandy area where the seahorses used to live, look carefully around you, maybe they have come back.

Level: Suitable for all levels. It is also a very suitable spot for test diving and training dives.
